Why Nampa Plumbing Has Its Own Quirks
Three local facts shape most plumbing work here. The city's drinking water comes entirely from groundwater wells, with hardness ranging from none to about 7 grains per gallon depending on the well, which drives scale in water heaters and fixtures.
Many subdivisions also have a separate canal-fed pressurized irrigation system, so a wet yard can come from either of two buried lines. Knowing which one is leaking changes who fixes it.
And winters bring an average January low around 21°F, cold enough to split pipes in crawlspaces, exterior walls and hose bibs. Each of these gets a dedicated page, such as our frozen pipe page, written for these conditions.
